Say What You Want To Say- Media Training Workshop

So what happens when your social marketing savvy elevates you from influential blogger to public speaker or even a brand spokesperson?  The overarching goal of this session is to equip participants with tips and tools to be more effective communicators in these offline settings with a special emphasis on successfully interacting with traditional media outlets.  In this presentation you’ll learn why preparation and practice is essential and receive direction on creating and delivering your messages in a compelling, credible and memorable way.  This session is for bloggers only. No PR folks sorry.

Social Media 101 (Business Track)

Social Media is one of the most talked about subjects on the web today. The number of social networks continues to grow and so does the perplexity. Social Media 101 will take away any confusion that you may have about the power and many uses of social media.   We will walk you through the basics of Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, and YouTube.  We will walk you through the basics of getting started and make sure you have the confidence to apply social media to your lives and your blogging.

HerStory: Storytelling Workshop (Writing Track)

HerStory – The Powerful Art of Telling Your Stories:  As girls, we were taught to be quiet, polite, not draw attention to ourselves. As women, we often fail to acknowledge our own achievements, especially in public. Based on the storytelling arts of indigenous peoples, this interactive, inspirational workshop guides us to tell our stories, to articulate our successes. You have the power. Let’s hear you roar! Led by Web pioneer and motivational speaker Aliza Sherman, founder of the first three web sites for women – Cybergrrl, Webgrrls and Femina – and still making HerStory online every day.

Vlogging & Editing (Creative Track)

Everyone will be saying ACTION in this workshop, with some of the best videographers in the blogosphere working with you to sharpen your skills in front of the camera and behind the scenes in your editing software.  Don’t miss this chance to focus on the biggest trend in blogging in a small, supportive environment.  A star is born!

Coding  (Geeked Out Track)

Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands if you want things done the right way, right now.  The more you know about what goes into the back end of your sites, the more you’ll be able to bring your visions to life.  Our Girl Geek Squad of top-notch coding and website pros will get you grounded in the basics, answer your specific questions and guide you into the glorious geekdom of getting your hands dirty under the hood of your site.

PR/Marketing 101 (Business Track)

More brands are beginning to make their way into social media. Bloggers have a perfect platform to promote brands with product reviews, giveaways, and sponsored content.  We have brought together some of the most prominent women in both public relations and marketing to discuss how you can start working with brands. You will learn everything from creating a powerful media kit to getting noticed by companies. These women will show you what makes up a good product review and why appearing professional is essential to working with brands.

Inspirational Writing (Writing Track)

Your written words can travel from your fingertips instantaneously to the heart of a reader, changing her forever. Sharing our lives and reading about others on blogs has opened pathways to understanding, support and life-sustaining connection, both when we are reading about small moments and major life challenges.  You are drawn to communicating, so make the most of this amazing medium by reflecting with incredibly inspirational writers about how to connect heart-to-heart with others through your writing.

Photography (Creative Track)

Photos can take your breath away with their simple beauty, but getting the effects you envision isn’t always so simple.  Bring your camera and your images to this small group workshop to learn how maximize whatever equipment you have and to challenge yourself to experiment with personalized mentoring from a crew of talented photographers.

SEO & Counting What Counts (Geeked Out Track)

Wrapping your brain around the details surrounding Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and understanding how to maximize your site metrics may seem daunting.  This workshop will demystify the process and help you work smarter, not harder to boost your blog’s traffic. Metrics mavens will cover SEO basics, business objectives, analytic and monitoring tools including case study examples.  They’ll help you understand how to count what counts when it comes to metrics and help boost the scores that help define success.

Session Four

4:30-6:15

Social Media & The Women Who Love It. Advanced Social Media. (Business Track)

You’ve got a good handle on all the latest social media tools like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and more but want to take it to the next level.  This workshop skips over the basics and dives into the more advanced ways to use social media today and will give examples of blogs and brands who are doing a good job of it.

Writer’s Craft (Writers Track)

Language, structure, form, tone and grammar are some of the hammers, saws and nails in a writer’s toolbox. Perfecting your craft and commanding the rules of English empower you to communicate brilliantly, even if you decide to break some of those rules along the way.  Regardless of your current level or your aspirations, we’ve gathered stunningly savvy wordsmiths to challenge you to improve as a writer and to help you master top-level communication skills.

Graphic Design (Creative Track)

There’s no reason to be limited by standard templates when you can dip into the gorgeous world of graphic design. Fonts, colors, images, themes…they are all part of the palette for graphic artists.  Benefit from the discerning eyes and immense talent of our graphic design panel as you learn about the design choices that will give you the look you want for your blog.
